How To : Parisian in Five Easy Steps

Women from all around the world have tried to emulate the Parisian style for years. It’s effortless, classic — and has me wondering if there’s something more they're not telling us about. There's also so many tips out there that we already know like, eat a baguette while walking the dog, head to toe black is always a yes or wearing a stripe tee with anything works. Though there's many more aspects of French style that us peasants don't know about, it's not just the Je Ne Sais Quoi. Now, go grab a Beret and a Baguette and lets get this Parisian show on the road.

Wear the Occasional Beret

The Beret hasn't been on the top of the How To Dress like a Parisan list,  in fact it's actually on the, "Please don't wear this item to look french list". Though this season by teaming the  classic item with a tailored shirt and clean lines it elevates a look like no other, I mean if Gucci can do it.

Stick to a Uniform

It's true. Take all French Style Icons, and pull them apart, what do they have in common? Besides long limbs, they all have a uniform.
Emmanuelle Alt, wears a strong blazer and denim jeans, Clemence Poesy
wears a shift dress with ballet flats while Jeanne Damas is never seen without a classic white shirt and a red lip.
This might be the secret to their look; they know exactly what works, what they like, and what they feel comfortable in, and they don’t try to change that for flashy trends or anybody else.

One Print Is Enough

French women will always practise the less is more approach and for them the spot is the perfect print to experiment in.

You can dress it up or dress it downed this print suits any body shape. Perfect for any event and the classic Parisian way to wear it, is to team it back with relaxed items like ballet flats and a cigarette.

Less is more, remember this always.

Manish Shapes are always Sexy

Have you ever noticed that all French women have the ability to be sexy while wearing oversized androgynous items. It's all about the effortless mix and match. Little camis with high waisted trousers, oversized sweaters with mini skirts and let's not forget, the sleek trouser suit with just a hint of a lace bra showing.

A La Boho

Perfect the Chic Boho. From the delicate fabrics on the lace sleeves of chiffon blouses to the silk scarfs wrapped around the necks, arms or bags of the fashion elites. Vintage is the way to go and the French have the ability to mix it all and make it look fresh again.
